What Is Sikal?

Sikal™ is a blend of elements from various systems of Filipino Kali and Indonesian Pentjak Silat. The combination of these diverse yet complementary combative arts provides the student with an excellent balance between being a hand and a foot technician, the ability to fight at all ranges, and intimate weapon knowledge.

The Sikal™ program is built to give primary emphasis to the Filipino and Indonesian arts individually before learning how to blend them. This focused development gives the student command of the concepts and techniques necessary for learning and understanding the Sikal™ mix.

Primary influences on Sikal™ are:

Lacoste/Inosanto Blend of Kali from Guro Dan Inosanto
Traditional Doce Pares Eskrima from GM Dionisio “Diony” Canete
Doce Pares Eskrima/Eskrido from GM Ciriaco “Cacoy” Canete
Balintawak Cuentada Eskrima from GM Bobby Taboada
Bukti Negara Pentjak Silat from Guru Dan Inosanto and Pendekar Paul de Thouars
Pentjak Silat Serak from MaHa Guru Victor de Thouars
Mande Muda Pencak Silat from Pendekar Herman Suwanda
